She Who Hustles, Wins.
My inspiration comes from people who wear their passion out loud, the ones who let it bleed over everything they do. Just by watching them in their element, I'm instantly moved to be better myself. I'm lucky enough to have friends who are not only gifted, but are so hungry that they never give up on their gift. These friends are rock climbers, photographers, musicians, actors, painters, skateboarders, soccer players...I mean the list goes on! When I was in high school, I had friends who were jocks like me, but also friends who were in theatre and the marching band. Maybe it was because I'm not musically gifted, or I never had the guts to act in front of an audience, but I was so drawn to their talent and their love of that talent.
This post is somewhat of a spotlight post for someone who really deserves to be noted for her passion. I've known this girl since my freshman year at Bunnell High School and even roomed with her for our first semester at UMaine. The title of this blog "She Who Hustles, Wins" is because this girl I'm talking about knows how to hustle. I don't think I know someone who works as hard as she does for what she loves, and anyone else who knows her would agree with that statement. I'm talking about my friend Nicole Carrano, who will some day start a dance revolution around the world. This chick dances with every fiber of her being and it shows.
I wanted to feature Nicole in this entry because I feel like she could be a mascot for the message and mission of this blog. She has been dancing for years and still loves it to this day. She lives and breathes it and it really inspires me even though I am for sure not a dancer. (I took a ballet class in college and stood out worse than a sore thumb.) Rather than type a biography on Nicole, which would take me forever because she's accomplished so much, I just want to showcase some of her work. Not only does she choreograph everything on her own, she films it, edits it, and shares it freely with everyone. Being that this blog is a platform of inspiration, I thought it'd be a good idea to put her stuff out there. If you become a dancer out of it, then rock on. If you just feel moved enough to go do something you love, then yes, keep on rocking in the free world.
There are two pieces she did that I've watched several times, but you can navigate around her youtube page to see the wide range of work she's done. Moral of this story my friends, be like Nicole. Hustle your heart out for what you love!
