Inspired.
In a world of "fitness gurus", instagram titans, and #fitspo-s, I sometimes feel I am wanderer of realms. My fitness journey started in 7th grade, when I refused to be out of shape and weak. Now here I am 30 years old, and in my 11th year of being considered a "fitness professional".
Hi. My name is Rebecca and I am what some call a hybrid athlete. I hate saying, "I'm a fitness enthusiast" because let's be honest, anyone who walks into a gym could now be considered a fitness enthusiast. I'm active and I always have been. Why? Because it's what makes me happy and makes me feel good. It keeps me healthy and keeps me sane. I was inspired to start this blog for a number of reasons. First, I want to try and share my passion without coming off as annoying. Now sure, I'll post an occasional selfie on instagram which could be considered overkill, but I want to try and connect with folks via the written word. I also want to hopefully inspire people to also be active in whatever right they want to be. Whether you dance, play golf, swim, or lift weights...as long as you're moving and you're happy, more power to you! That has always been my fitness mantra. If you're doing it, whatever it is, you're doing it right. Finally, I want to document what it looks like and how it feels to be a hybrid athlete. This is an area of my life I tend to be a little too proud of, but honestly, I have the credentials to back it up. I don't know a lot of power lifting triathletes who also teach group fitness classes 5 times a week and have a long term goal of completing the Barkely Marathon and the Appalachian Trail. Just saying.
So here we go. This is the first entry of what I hope is many. My efforts to keep this from being a blog about tips and tricks is going to be very high. So let me be clear, this is not a blog about the keys to success on how to get healthy. This is a platform of inspiration. This is my personal journey including trials and tribulations. You're welcome to come along for the ride, or not. That's the beauty of the world wide web. If you choose to follow and read I will be humbled and grateful; if you choose not to, then I'll be forever pissed at you. Just kidding. Either way, stay tuned for future entries.
Cheers!
